Nvidia Unveils DLSS 5 with NBA 2K27: Next-Gen Graphics on PC
Nvidia is set to launch its latest graphics processing technology, DLSS 5, in collaboration with NBA 2K27. This innovation brings Hollywood-grade photorealism to PC gamers.
DLSS 5 uses AI to generate rich lighting and material details that would be impossible without a significant leap in GPU performance. It allows artists to guide a deterministic AI to enhance visuals in ways traditional methods can't, delivering effects that would require an uncountable number of ray tracing rays to achieve.
Nvidia says game developers control DLSS 5, using the game's output as a baseline and grounding the output to the original visuals. Developers also decide the intensity of DLSS 5 and which objects it affects, ensuring its rendering is targeted where they want it.
The technology improves lighting in NBA 2K27 while retaining the accuracy of facial geometry scans from real-world athletes, making players look more life-like and less 'gamey'. Nvidia is working to improve DLSS 5 performance and deliver even higher image quality.
