Nvidia Unveils Personal AI Router for Local AI Clusters
Nvidia has introduced Personal AI Router (PAIR), a software tool that enables developers to connect multiple devices on the same local network for building personal home AI clusters. PAIR allows independent inference requests to be routed to an available system, making it easier for users to distribute workloads while keeping them secure.
The software works across systems housing Nvidia RTX GPUs and its lunchbox-sized desktop AI supercomputer line, DGX Spark. MacOS systems that are compatible with Nvidia's offerings can employ PAIR to route local AI inference workloads to other machines on the network.
Nvidia stressed that its newest software offering differs from a custom routing script in that it distributes workloads while keeping them secure. The software uses mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS) for encryption, and users employ a six-digit PIN between nodes, with the cluster refusing a machine that is not a member.
