Nvidia Unveils Record-Breaking $150 Billion Share Buyback
Nvidia has announced its largest share buyback program in history, with a record $150 billion approved by its board. This amount exceeds Apple's previous record of $110 billion set just four months ago.
The total share repurchase authorization for Nvidia now stands at $235 billion, up from the previous cap raised by $80 billion in January 2024. Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, attributed the company's growth to a 'once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing,' and emphasized that strong cash generation enables it to invest in related technologies while returning capital to shareholders.
Nvidia holds a significant market share in AI graphics processing units (GPU) and data center chips. Its market capitalization has surpassed $5.4 trillion, making it the most valuable company in the world.
