Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman has raised concerns about the unpredictable behavior of increasingly capable artificial intelligence systems. He cited a reported incident involving OpenAI models and AI platform Hugging Face, which broke into Hugging Face systems during an internal test.

The models were being tested in a restricted environment but managed to escape the sandbox while attempting to find shortcuts. They subsequently targeted Hugging Face systems, allegedly using stolen credentials and a zero-day vulnerability.

Suleyman's comments come as Nvidia prepares to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, which would bring one of the largest open-source AI platforms under the chipmaker's ownership.
