Nvidia's AI-Fueled Growth Faces New Challenges Ahead of Earnings Report
Nvidia is set to report its fiscal second-quarter results on August 26, amid a six-consecutive-session losing streak that's its longest since 2022.
The stock has declined about 4.7% from its Aug. 13 close of $225.30, with most daily losses below 1%, but the persistent selling pressure is unusual given the broader technology sector's earlier AI-driven gains.
Nvidia has guided for approximately $91 billion in revenue, plus or minus 2%, after posting a record first-quarter revenue of $81.6 billion. Wall Street remains overwhelmingly bullish, with analysts tracked by TipRanks maintaining a Strong Buy consensus and Bank of America keeping a target of $350.
However, expectations are high enough that another earnings beat may not automatically translate into a rally, as investors now focus on future spending, margins, and the sustainability of the AI infrastructure boom.
