Nvidia's PAIR Tool Converts Idle PCs into Personal Home Data Centers
Nvidia has introduced PAIR, a free and open-source software tool that converts idle PCs into a personal home data center. The tool connects multiple computers in a network to share computing resources and run local AI tasks seamlessly.
PAIR solves the problem of compute-intensive tasks by breaking them down into individual sub-tasks and assigning them to available machines on the network. This enables users to harness the power they already have at home, rather than relying on cloud subscription services or powerful company-owned machines.
The tool is cross-platform compatible, supporting Nvidia GeForce graphics cards on Windows, Apple desktops and laptops running macOS, and even Ubuntu and DGX OS. It requires no specialized hardware purchases beyond what users likely already have at home.
