Nvidia's PAIR Tool Lets M4 Macs Share AI Workloads with Compatible PCs
Nvidia has released an open-source beta tool called Personal AI Router (PAIR) that allows M4 Macs to share local AI workloads with compatible PCs, effectively turning a home network into a shared supercomputer.
PAIR is software that connects supported Apple Silicon Macs, Nvidia RTX PCs, and DGX Spark systems. It works in conjunction with tools like Ollama and LM Studio, which are used for running AI models locally.
The tool discovers participating computers on the network and provides a single connection point for sending requests, eliminating the need to configure each app individually. This allows users to leverage multiple machines when handling large or complex tasks, such as reviewing documents or processing images.
Nvidia's PAIR beta was released on September 3, and it supports both Windows and Linux operating systems in addition to macOS.
