Nvidia's RTX 60 Delayed to 2028: Leaked Timeline Sparks Frustration Among Gamers
Nvidia's consumer GPU line may be in for a longer-than-expected wait. A recent hardware leak suggests that the GeForce RTX 60 series, expected to succeed the current RTX 50 generation, might not arrive until 2028.
The claim comes from Kopite7Kimi, a reliable hardware leaker who has accurately predicted Nvidia's future product lines in the past. According to Tom's Hardware and TechSpot, the leaked information points to a 2028 launch for the GR20x GPU, believed to be a Rubin-based consumer GPU.
The RTX 50 series launched with the Blackwell architecture in January 2025, which means that if the leak is true, there will be approximately three years between the two consumer generations. This timeline has been pushed back from earlier predictions of a 2027 launch, and it's unclear whether Nvidia plans to release a small number of cards first or delay the whole range.
The current GeForce RTX 5090 remains the top-end consumer reference point while the next generation is unconfirmed. Nvidia's focus on AI accelerators and data-centre products may be contributing to the delay, as these lines command much higher prices than gaming graphics cards and require significant engineering capacity.
