NYSE Falls as AI Memory Chipmakers' Forecasts Fall Short

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) experienced a decline on June 6th due to disappointing performance forecasts from AI memory chipmakers, particularly Western Digital and SanDisk. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.9%, ending its five-day winning streak. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also declined by 0.2% and 0.1%, respectively.

Western Digital plummeted 13% after releasing its earnings, while SanDisk dropped 7%. SanDisk's future performance outlook was slightly below market expectations, failing to meet investors' hopes. Western Digital's outlook met existing expectations but did not exceed them.

Aerospace component maker Honeywell Aerospace experienced a sharp decline of 23% due to lowered earnings forecasts for the year. Cloud monitoring company Datadog fell by 19%, despite its second-quarter earnings increase, as its full-year sales forecast was below Wall Street estimates.
