NZ Marketing Veteran Wendy Rayner Inducted into Marketing Hall of Fame
Wendy Rayner, Managing Director of NZ, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners NZ, has been inducted into the Marketing Hall of Fame for her trailblazing career. Throughout her journey, she emphasized the importance of people at the center.
Rayner's path to marketing began unexpectedly as an accountant. She recalls that she didn't even like math but followed a friend who was studying accountancy. After qualifying, she worked as an assistant accountant but soon realized it wasn't for her. Rayner went back to studying and discovered her true passion in marketing at Manukau Institute of Technology.
She excelled in her studies and landed a role at an advertising agency, which unfortunately closed six weeks later, leaving her redundant. However, one of her bosses secured her next position as sales at TVNZ, where she spent several years working across various departments before transitioning into brand marketing, her true love.
Rayner's accountancy training may have seemed like a detour but proved vital in her career. She credits it with grounding her as a commercial marketer and allowing her to speak the language of finance.
