NZ Upgrades Immigration System for Family Visa Applicants

New Zealand is upgrading its Immigration Online system to make it easier for family members of citizens and residents to apply for temporary entry visas. From November 16, 2026, applications for Visitor and Work visas will be processed through this enhanced online platform.

The enhanced system has been introduced to simplify the immigration process, reduce waiting times, and improve communication on application status. Applicants will be able to upload digital scans of their passports, reducing manual data entry and improving accuracy.

The new features include a dynamic form that asks questions based on an applicant's circumstances and provides guidance on required documents and evidence. Children who qualify for domestic student status can now apply for the Child of New Zealander Student Visa through this platform.
