OCOOPA Hand Warmers Recalled Amid Reports of Fires, Burn Injuries, and Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The recall of OCOOPA-branded rechargeable lithium-ion battery hand warmers has been ongoing since July 30, 2026, when the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced it due to numerous reports of overheating, fires, and burn injuries. One fatality was reported in February 2026, and over 350 people sustained burns from these devices. The affected models were sold through various retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Ocoopa.com, and Ocoopa.net, for between $15 and $60.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Amazon and OCOOPA Innovations LLC by the daughter of the deceased woman, alleging that both companies had received warnings about the hand warmers' fire risk but failed to take action. The complaint cites customer reviews and consumer complaints as evidence that the companies were aware of the potential hazards.

The recall affects seven model numbers manufactured by Shenzhen Street Cat Technology Co., Ltd. and sold from September 2018 through May 2026.
