Odyssey Chevron Island Takes Top Honors in National Apartment Awards
The Australian National Apartment Awards have crowned Odyssey Chevron Island as the national champion for Ageing in Place and Innovation. The Gold Coast-based private aged care operator, Odyssey Lifestyle Care Communities, received the award for its latest retirement village at Chevron Island. This achievement follows their win in both the Ageing in Place and Innovation categories at the Queensland event in July.
The judges recognized Odyssey's integration of independent living, assisted living, and high-care services within one apartment community. This model allows residents to access dementia and palliative care without needing to move elsewhere. Additionally, it enables couples with different care requirements to remain living together.
Odyssey Head of Maintenance Mike Hamer accepted the award on behalf of the operator. The company's next development is planned for Hope Island. Australian Apartment Advocacy Chief Executive Samantha Reece described the winners as representing the 'top 1%' of companies for apartment design and execution.
