Ohalo Genetics, a company that's revolutionizing crop improvement using gene-editing techniques, has taken a significant step by joining the Salesforce 'Ohana'. CEO David Friedberg admits to being early on the SaaSpocalypse train, but now realizes the value of platform software. He recalls saying that SaaS was a temporary phenomenon between the founding of the Internet and the start of AI.

Friedberg explains that Ohalo initially tried to build its own CRM product using 'vibe coding', but quickly realized the complexity and maintenance required. They then decided to use Salesforce's platform software, which provides a standardized interface for custom workflows and integrations with other tools like Slack.

Ohalo has adopted a bi-partisan approach of building custom interfaces for verticalized applications while using standard platforms for core functions like CRM and communication. This approach allows them to focus on adding value through customizations rather than building everything from scratch.
