Starr Manufacturing Inc., an Ohio-based company that builds oil and gas production equipment, has filed a defamation lawsuit against a Columbus woman over a one-star Google review. The lawsuit claims that the woman's review was 'knowingly, maliciously, and intentionally' false and defamatory.

The review in question alleged that Starr Manufacturing Inc. had quality control issues due to working with substandard contractors, resulting in costly field updates. However, the company denies these allegations and claims that they have sustained significant reputational harm as a result of the review.

Starr Manufacturing Inc. is seeking over $25,000 in damages, along with attorney fees and an order barring the woman from publishing further defamatory content. The company's attorney stated that this was not a case of a business suing a client for a bad review, as the defendant had never been a customer.
