An Ohio-based manufacturer of oil and gas process equipment has filed a defamation lawsuit against a woman who left a one-star Google review. Starr Manufacturing, which supports several industries including oil and gas and material handling, claims that Julie Watson's comments contained false statements that caused the company special damages and reputational harm.

The complaint alleges that Watson 'falsely and maliciously' claimed the company experienced production and quality failures involving multiple customers. The lawsuit also states that Watson was not a customer, supplier or vendor of Starr Manufacturing.

In response to the review, Thomas Nader, an attorney representing Starr Manufacturing, said that the defendant posted the Google review after the end of a personal relationship with an employee of Starr. The company will seek over $25,000 in damages, plus attorney fees and litigation costs.
