Oklo: A Hidden Gem that Could Outshine Nvidia
Nvidia is often considered the face of today's bull market, but it may not be the top performer over the next decade. One utility stock that could potentially surpass Nvidia in performance is Oklo, a company designing small nuclear reactors.
Oklo's reactors are compact enough to fit on a few acres, unlike conventional nuclear power plants that can span hundreds of acres. This makes them ideal for on-site power generation, which would limit the need for companies to draw from the grid and reduce exposure to grid outages.
If Oklo grows tenfold, its implied market cap would be $67 billion, whereas a tenfold gain in Nvidia's value would make it a $53 trillion-dollar company. While Oklo's valuation is currently around $7 billion, which seems high compared to its present-day sales, it suggests more room for upside over the next 10 years.
Investors have already started to recognize Oklo's potential, but it comes with a risk of waiting a decade for the long-term hypothesis to play out. The company aims to sell electricity generated by its reactors under long-term contracts, eliminating the need for companies to own or maintain their own reactor fleets.
