Older Nvidia Cards Still Have Life Left in Them Thanks to Unofficial MFG Mods
Nvidia's Multi Frame Generation (MFG) feature has been available on RTX 50-series cards for some time, but it seems that older cards like the RTX 4070 Super still have a lot of life left in them.
With the help of unofficial mods from ReShade HDR Installer, users can unlock higher rates of MFG on their existing hardware. In this case, the author was able to get up to 4x MFG working on an RTX 4070 Super, which is double its official limit of 2x.
The testing showed that while some games supported up to 6x MFG, not all games were created equal when it comes to MFG performance. Some games like Lost Records: Bloom & Rage and The Thaumaturge had smooth gameplay with MFG active, but others like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 suffered from frame hitching and artifacting.
Despite some stability issues, the author was impressed by how viable playing with 4x MFG felt on their RTX 4070 Super. Several hours of benchmarking showed that the card still turned in respectable frames even without MFG active, making it a good candidate for those who want to upgrade but don't need the latest and greatest.
