Only 8% of Organizations Can Defend Against Cyber Threats

Cisco has published research on threat detection and governance based on a survey of 8,000 security professionals. The study aimed to examine the state of play for threat detection among enterprises and public bodies. According to Cisco's findings, only 8 percent of organizations qualified as 'relentless defenders', while 39 percent were classified as 'established defenders'. A further 41 percent were described as 'reactive defenders'.

The research used a defence score to classify organizations into one of four groups: relentless defender, established defender, evolving defender, and reactive defender. This classification system allowed Cisco to identify the strengths and weaknesses of various security strategies. The results of the study highlight the need for more effective threat detection methods.
