Only Four Countries Lead Global AI Adoption
A new report by Goldman Sachs Research has revealed that only four countries have adopted artificial intelligence at a rate of over 20%, while major emerging markets lag behind with adoption rates between 10-15%.
The top four AI adopters are France, the US, the Netherlands, and the UK. The report also found that industries with greater exposure to automation saw a slowdown in job openings starting from the second half of 2022, particularly in Germany, Australia, and the US.
'This cross-industry result confirms our prior finding that the onset of generative AI tools may have led companies in highly exposed industries to re-evaluate their hiring plans,' the report said.
The research evaluated occupational exposure across over 800 occupations and found that a 10% occupational exposure generated a drag of only 0.1 percentage point on annual headcount growth across the US, France, and Canada.
