Open Secure AI Alliance Unveils Safe Framework at Black Hat USA

The Open Secure AI Alliance (OSAA) has expanded its efforts to secure enterprise AI at Black Hat USA 2026. The alliance introduced SAFE guidelines and open agent-security tools, providing a framework for safer AI deployment.

According to the OSAA, an open AI defense stack is crucial for enterprises as it allows them to inspect and adapt their defenses in real-time during a breach. This is especially important as AI-powered cyberattacks become more common.

The alliance brings together a broad roster of cloud, cybersecurity, enterprise software, and open-source foundations, including HPE, Hugging Face, IBM, Red Hat, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Cisco. These companies have contributed to the development of an emerging 'open defense stack' for AI agents that spans identity, isolation, safe model formats, multi-model scanning, and secure development workflows.

Nvidia's NOOA framework is a key component of this effort, allowing developers to create testable and auditable code surfaces for agentic AI. This shift is significant as it enables security and platform teams to govern AI development and deployment more effectively.
