OpenAI Rolls Out Office Software Challenger with New ChatGPT Features
OpenAI is making a bold move into the territory of workplace software, traditionally dominated by Microsoft. At its recent Dev Day developer conference in San Francisco, OpenAI unveiled several new features for ChatGPT designed specifically for office workers.
The most significant feature is Space, a shared workspace within ChatGPT where coworkers can collaborate with the chatbot and Dots, OpenAI's AI agent personas. These personas can carry out tasks on behalf of users, making it feel like an office software suite.
OpenAI also launched Pages, a word processor that allows human and agent collaboration. This feature seems to be a direct response to Google Docs and Microsoft Word, enabling users to write, research, generate charts, create images, or visualize information within the platform.
Additionally, OpenAI introduced collaborative slides, which can be created by simply talking about them within ChatGPT. Multiple workers and agents can then work together on these slides, leaving comments and editing as needed. This move is seen as a direct challenge to Microsoft's dominance in the office software market.
