OpenAI Steals Another Top Googler as Talent War Heats Up

OpenAI has poached yet another top executive from Google Cloud, this time Brian Kane, who was head of global partner development management. Kane's departure adds to a growing list of high-profile exits from Google Cloud to OpenAI in recent months.

Kane had been with Google Cloud for several years and was responsible for overseeing a portfolio of technology partners that drove billions in consumption, AI services, and Google Cloud Marketplace transactions. He also led a group of partners that launched Gemini Enterprise solutions and Gemini models for agents.

In a LinkedIn post, Kane said he was 'excited to share that I've joined OpenAI as a Member of the Go To Market Staff' and thanked the OpenAI GTM team for their warm welcome.

Kane's departure from Google Cloud is not an isolated incident. This year, two other high-profile executives have left Google Cloud to join OpenAI: Colleen Kapase, who was global partner programs leader, and Philip Larson, who was Partner Network managing director.

Both Kapase and Larson are now leading the newly launched OpenAI Partner Network. Additionally, OpenAI hired Wiz's president and COO, Dali Rajic, last month to lead its global revenue organization as CRO.
