OpenCV Unveils Global AI Competition with $12K in Prizes

The OpenCV AI Competition 2026 has officially launched in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), offering developers and researchers worldwide the chance to build innovative computer vision projects. The competition is open to individuals, students, researchers, and multidisciplinary teams from anywhere globally.

Registration for the competition is now open at opencv.org, and up to 50 selected participants will receive an AWS compute grant to aid in building their projects. Final submissions will be evaluated by a panel of industry experts, academics, and computer vision professionals on innovation, technical execution, real-world impact, user experience, and documentation quality.

Five thousand dollars will be awarded to the first-place winner, with second- and third-place winners receiving $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. Two special focus area prizes of $1,000 each are also up for grabs: Best Use of Cloud-Optimized OpenCV Library (COOL) and the Agentic Vision award.

The competition focuses on various technical areas, including active perception for autonomous inspection, physics-informed video prediction, multi-agent visual SLAM, and real-time spatial digital twin synchronization. Previous winners have developed high-tech wheelchairs, STEM learning tools, and agricultural innovations using OpenCV's computer vision library.
