Optum Closes Anacortes Clinic Amid Consolidation Efforts
Optum, a unit of UnitedHealth Group, will close its clinic in Anacortes on December 4 and consolidate services at its La Conner location. The decision was made to ensure patients continue to have access to care with minimal disruption, according to Optum.
The Anacortes internal medicine clinic, Island Internal Medicine, has been serving the community since 2001 and is owned by UnitedHealth Group's Optum unit. In a statement, Optum noted that the La Conner location will become its northernmost clinic after the closure, with alternative options available in Stanwood.
The Anacortes clinic was previously part of The Everett Clinic, which was purchased by UnitedHealth Group's Optum unit in 2017 and rebranded as Optum in 2024. In August, Optum announced it would sell its Bellingham clinic to the Family Care Network by November.
Patients are being notified that they can receive care at Island Internal Medicine through December 4. After this date, services will be consolidated at the La Conner location.
