Orkney Company Upgrades to Latest Generation of Cat Pavers

Orkney-based surfacing and contracting company BDS Plant Hire has upgraded its fleet to the latest generation of Cat pavers, aiming to enhance operational efficiency. The company, which has remained loyal to Bitelli products since their acquisition by Caterpillar in 2000, sought to transition to modern paving technology.

The upgrade was facilitated by Finning UK & Ireland, who provided guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition. Charlie Sinclair, director at BDS Plant Hire, expressed his satisfaction with the latest generation of Cat pavers, citing their efficiency and reliability.

The new machines offer significant advancements in automation, fuel efficiency, and paving precision, making them well-suited for Scotland's challenging infrastructure environment. Paul Walton, sales manager at Finning UK & Ireland, noted that the Cat AP500 wheel asphalt paver is particularly well-matched to meet the specific realities of Scottish infrastructure work.
