Ortberg: Boeing's 737 Max 10 Certification Looming
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg has assured investors that FAA certification of the 737 Max 10 is nearing completion, with deliveries expected to begin next year. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Laguna Conference on September 16, Ortberg stated that Boeing will secure an amended type certificate for the Max 10 'very soon.'
The company concluded the certification test-flight campaign for the Max 10 in late July and is currently working through the FAA's extensive paperwork requirements. European regulators are also engaged with the program, with EASA having flown the -10 this week and providing positive feedback.
Boeing is counting on the 737 Max 10 to be a major revenue driver, providing a close competitor for the Airbus A321neo and helping the company return to profitability. The aircraft has over 1,400 orders, representing roughly 30% of Boeing's outstanding backlog.
