P&G Acquires Science-Backed Wellness Brand Thorne
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced its intention to acquire Thorne, a science-backed wellness brand that focuses on high-quality nutritional supplements and personalized health technology. The acquisition is expected to close later this year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
Thorne was founded in 1984 and operates a vertically integrated manufacturing model, producing its supplements at an in-house facility in South Carolina. The company has developed products using clinical research and high-quality ingredients, with an in-house team of doctors, researchers, and scientists overseeing formulations.
The acquisition will bolster P&G's Personal Health Care business as consumer interest in self-care and preventative health continues to grow. Colin Watts, CEO of Thorne, stated that the deal will allow the company to expand its impact while staying true to its values and standards.
