P&G Acquires Supplement Brand Thorne for $3.8 Billion
Procter & Gamble (P&G), one of the largest consumer goods companies in the US, has acquired Thorne, a supplement brand, for $3.8 billion. The acquisition is expected to close at the end of the year.
The purchase is part of P&G's push into health and wellness, with CEO Shailesh Jejurikar saying it will help grow the company's healthcare division. Thorne CEO Colin Watts said that P&G was chosen as the right partner to help the brand expand its impact while staying true to its values.
Some online users have expressed concerns about reformulation and quality, citing P&G's history of voluntary recalls in personal care products. However, a Thorne spokeswoman assured customers that there are no plans to change formulations or pricing as a result of the acquisition.
