P&G Buys Dietary Supplement Maker Thorne for $3.8 Billion
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced its acquisition of Thorne, a US-based manufacturer of dietary supplements. The deal is worth $3.8 billion and aims to boost P&G's health and wellness division.
P&G already has several supplement brands in its portfolio, but the addition of Thorne will significantly expand its offerings. Thorne was founded in 1984 and went public in 2021 before being taken private again by investment fund L Catterton in 2023.
The company generates $500 million in revenue annually, producing dietary supplements such as protein powder, creatine, electrolytes, and omega-3 pills. Other companies, including Unilever, were reportedly interested in acquiring Thorne.
