P&G Cuts Scrap Rates Up to 20% with AI-Powered Quality Inspection

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has reduced scrap rates by 10 to 20% on some products using AI-based quality inspection.

The solution was developed jointly with Siemens, combining P&G's deep learning models with Siemens's Industrial Edge computing platform and industrial PCs powered by NVIDIA graphics processing units.

The Visual Inspection Cockpit (VIC) is set up five to 10 times faster than traditional bespoke vision systems, according to the companies.

Inspection results are processed close to the production equipment on Siemens's Industrial Edge and integrated directly into operations.
