P&G Unveils Wearable Skin Sensor that Revolutionizes Skincare Industry
The Procter & Gamble (P&G) Singapore Innovation Centre has unveiled HapSense, a wearable skin sensor developed in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University and A*STAR. This innovative device measures skin feel and can analyze skincare products up to 10 times faster than traditional methods.
HapSense is shaped like a signet ring and worn on the fingertip, capturing real-time data on friction and pressure that is independent of consumer perceptions. The sensor's multidimensional sensing and tracking provide objective insights into the effects of skincare products on skin.
The development of HapSense was funded by a partnership between P&G and A*STAR under a Master Research Collaboration Agreement (MRCA). Since 2013, this partnership has yielded over 30 publications and 10 patents in areas such as computer vision, neuroscience, and skin biology.
