P3 Earns Google Accreditation for Next-Gen Android Auto Projection Certification
P3, an international consulting and software development firm, has been accredited by Google as a Third-Party Laboratory (3PL) Certification Partner for Android Auto™ Projection (AAP) systems. This recognition makes P3 one of the first partners authorized to certify solutions compliant with the latest AAP 2.0 standards, which offer enhanced technical rigor and streamlined certification processes for automakers.
The AAP 2.0 program, introduced by Google, aims to deliver higher levels of technical excellence and efficiency. OEMs will benefit from faster certification times, optimized development costs, and accelerated system implementations. P3’s long-standing collaboration with Google, spanning over three decades of Android Automotive integrations, positions the company as a trusted partner in ensuring compliance with Google’s stringent requirements.
Android Auto Projection allows users to connect their smartphones to a car’s infotainment system, mirroring the phone’s interface and apps. This is distinct from Android Automotive OS (AAOS), which operates natively on the vehicle’s hardware. Google mandates that all AAP products undergo rigorous testing and certification through its 3PL partner program to guarantee quality, safety, and user experience.
Marius Mailat, CTO of P3, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, 'Consumers today demand ever-richer experiences in their vehicles, with always-on connectivity, and automakers and their specialist provider partners are responding with innovative solutions for Android Auto Projection.' This accreditation builds on P3’s earlier recognition as a certification partner for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems in 2024.
