The San Diego Padres have signed right-hander Brent Honeywell Jr. to a minor league contract, giving him another chance at making it back to the majors.

Honeywell, now 31, has been away from professional play for nearly two years due to injuries that plagued his career earlier on.

He last pitched in 2024 with a notable 2.63 ERA in 37 2/3 innings, but his strikeout rate was only 12.1%, indicating room for improvement.

Honeywell is expected to report to Triple-A El Paso and prove himself ready for the big leagues by the end of September.
