Paint Companies Predict Colorful 2027 for Homes

Paint companies are forecasting a colorful future for homes in 2027. Behr has chosen Grounded, described as 'mossy olive,' as its color of the year, while Valspar went with Cottage Door, a gray-blue shade. Sherwin-Williams selected Celery, a pale green reminiscent of the vegetable.

'Homeowners are gravitating toward warmth, color and personality,' says Kayla Kratz, Behr's senior director of color and design strategy.

Behr's 2026 selection, Hidden Gem, was the top-selling non-neutral paint color in 31 states earlier this year. The company attributes this success to homeowners who are designing for themselves rather than resale.
