Pam Andrews Reveals Depression Forced Her Out of Pop Group 101

Pam Andrews, former member of the South African pop group 101, has revealed the real reason behind her departure from the group in 2002. According to Andrews, she left due to severe depression and anxiety that had been silently plaguing her for a year.

At just 18 years old, Andrews won Coca-Cola Popstars and became part of 101, achieving everything she had ever dreamed of as a child from the Cape Flats. However, despite living what seemed like a dream, she began to feel 'funny' and miserable, experiencing symptoms that would later be diagnosed as depression, anxiety, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

'I just started feeling funny. I'm feeling so miserable, so down, I'm crying, but I'm feeling ashamed about this, so I'm not telling anyone,' Andrews said in a recent video.

After leaving 101, Andrews went on to build a successful acting career, playing roles such as Frankie on 'Backstage' and Gayle October on 'Rhythm City'. However, she has spoken publicly about the difficulties of living with depression and anxiety, stating that it had forced her to give up acting.
