Pampers' Disposable Diaper Revolution Turns 65

65 years ago, Procter & Gamble scientist Victor Mills sparked a revolution in baby care by inventing disposable diapers. Mills was frustrated with cloth diapers while caring for his grandson and asked P&G to develop high-quality but disposable diapers. The first Pampers disposable diapers hit stores in 1961.

Over the years, Pampers continued to innovate with notable improvements such as fastening tapes in the 1970s and stretchy sides in the 1990s. These advancements reduced leaks and improved skin care for babies. Today, Pampers operates nearly 30 manufacturing plants in 25 countries, available in more than 100 countries worldwide.
