Global health nonprofit PATH has strengthened its security infrastructure by adopting Microsoft Defender XDR, a move aimed at protecting sensitive data and ensuring operational continuity. The organization, which collaborates with various health entities worldwide, lacked the in-house expertise to manage complex security transitions. To address this, PATH partnered with Microsoft partner BDO, which guided the deployment process and integrated the new system into PATH's broader infrastructure modernization efforts.
PATH now works closely with Microsoft's Defender Experts for XDR team, a managed service that combines human expertise with AI-driven enhancements. This partnership has significantly reduced the workload on PATH's security team by prioritizing high-impact incidents and providing proactive recommendations. The service also offers threat hunting capabilities and immediate incident response, allowing PATH's small team to handle most issues with confidence.
The adoption of Microsoft Defender XDR has allowed PATH employees to focus on their core mission of improving global health without worrying about technical security details. The organization emphasizes the importance of integrating security at every level to better serve the communities it supports. “Security is at the center of everything we do,” says Ngosa, highlighting the critical role of robust defenses in PATH's operations.
