Pekin Veteran Receives Home Repairs Through Habitat for Humanity Partnership
A veteran in Pekin, Illinois received much-needed home repairs thanks to the efforts of Habitat for Humanity and The Home Depot Foundation.
The collaboration, which included a group of volunteers from different parts of the country, installed new siding and fresh paint on the porch of Jeff Sangelli's home. Sangelli, a U.S. Marine Veteran, had been in need of repairs to his home on Sapp Street in Pekin.
The Home Depot Foundation provided the money for materials and will also provide new flooring inside the home after the outside work is complete. Lea Anne Schmidgall, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Peoria Area, praised the volunteers who came from as far away as Houston and Charlotte, North Carolina to help with the project.
'This project represents the very best of what Habitat is about: people coming together to help a neighbor,' said Schmidgall. 'Jeff served our country as a Marine, and now we have the privilege of serving him.'
