Pekin Veterans' Home Repairs Complete Thanks to Habitat and Volunteers
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Peoria Area recently completed repairs on a Pekin veteran's home, thanks to a collaboration between local organizations and volunteers.
The project was part of Habitat's Veteran Repair Program, which helps veterans remain safely and comfortably in their homes by completing needed repairs and improvements.
The work on the home on Sapp Street included installing new siding and fresh paint on the porch, courtesy of The Home Depot Foundation. They also provided the materials for the project, including flooring that will be installed inside the home once the outside work is complete.
A group of volunteers from different parts of the country came together to lend a hand in Pekin. Three friends who had met at other Habitat projects across the country traveled from as far away as Houston and Charlotte, North Carolina, to volunteer for this project.
