Penn Badgley to Star in 'Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone' Series

Amazon has greenlit a series adaptation of Benjamin Stevenson's novel 'Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone', with Penn Badgley set to star and executive produce. The darkly comedic murder mystery follows Ern Cunningham, a mystery-writing expert who attends his family reunion, only to find that everyone has already killed someone - either by accident or otherwise. David Hemingson will adapt the novel and serve as showrunner and executive producer.

Hemingson praised Badgley, saying 'I can't think of any actor better suited to bring Ern's intensity, brilliance, and hilariously dry sense of humor to life.' The series marks a reunion between Hemingson and Badgley, who previously collaborated on the hit Netflix series 'You', in which Badgley played the lead role of Joe Goldberg.

'Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone' was originally published by Mariner Books in 2022 and became a bestseller in Australia in 2021. The novel is the first in the Ernest Cunningham book series, with Stevenson currently writing the fifth installment. Amazon's Peter Friedlander called the series 'brilliantly inventive', praising its unique take on the murder mystery genre.
