Peoria Resident Paul Richard Day Passes Away at Age 73
Paul Richard Day, a 73-year-old Peorian, passed away at his home on September 21, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 28, 1953, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Evelyn Daily Day and was raised by his mother and paternal grandparents, Fred and Marguerite Day.
After graduating from Jacksonville High School in 1971, Paul moved to Peoria in 1983 and started working at Caterpillar Inc. He spent over two decades there as a Senior Systems Analyst, retiring in 2014. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, live theater, art, plants, animals, and collecting.
Paul is survived by his partner of 36 years, Michael Dugard, and several siblings, including sisters Linda Day and Christine Birch (Donnie), as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his gratitude towards the good fortune he experienced in life and the loving family and friends who enriched it.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on October 10, 2026, at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Immaculate Conception, followed by cremation rites and a celebration of life. A graveside service will take place later in East Cemetery in Jacksonville, Illinois.
