Peoria Riverfront Museum Unveils Largest-Ever Transportation Exhibition
The Peoria Riverfront Museum in Illinois is set to open its largest transportation exhibition yet, featuring objects from the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum for the first time.
'Transportation Revolutions: How America Moves' will showcase the evolution of transportation in the United States, covering everything from covered wagons and railroads to automobiles, aviation, and space exploration. The exhibition is part of the museum's series marking America's 250th anniversary.
The show will feature a collection of objects from the Smithsonian alongside pieces from the Riverfront Museum's own collection and loans from other institutions in Central Illinois, including the Duryea brothers' early gas-powered automobile and Caterpillar's development of diesel technology.
'This is the largest transportation exhibition ever staged at the Peoria Riverfront Museum,' said museum President and CEO John D. Morris.
