Pershing Square Builds $2.4 Billion Microsoft Stake Amid Tech Sector Optimism
Bill Ackman's investment firm Pershing Square has built a $2.4 billion stake in Microsoft, making it the company's second-largest tech holding.
Ackman started buying Microsoft shares earlier this year, and his firm continued to add to its position, purchasing more than 5.65 million shares worth nearly $2.1 billion by the end of March.
By June, Pershing Square had sold its relatively small holding in Google parent Alphabet to load up on even more Microsoft stock, bringing its total stake in the company to slightly over 6.2 million shares, valued at $2.3 billion.
Ackman's confidence in tech is evident in his firm's investment strategy, which has shifted towards sector leaders with strong competitive positions and excellent management teams.
