Peru Secures $1B Coca-Cola Investment Amid El Niño Response
Peru has secured a significant investment from Coca-Cola Peru and Arca Continental Lindley. The two companies plan to invest US$1 billion over the next five years, with US$500 million dedicated to neighborhood store infrastructure and direct support across their value chain.
The announcement was made by President Keiko Fujimori after meeting with company executives and touring their bottling plant in Lima's southern Pucusana district. The investment is seen as a vote of confidence in Peru's future under the new government.
President Fujimori highlighted that the investment will create jobs, improve people's quality of life, expand opportunities, and help reduce poverty. She also noted that Coca-Cola Peru and Arca Continental Lindley will invest US$90 million through the Works for Taxes mechanism in a potable water and sewerage system in Pucusana.
The companies have also committed to donating two million liters of water and 150,000 blankets to communities forecast to be affected by El Niño in the coming months. Fujimori expressed hope that other major companies will follow suit and invest in Peru's future.
