Philippine Visa Applications Surge 20 Percent in 2026
Philippine visa applications surged by 20% in the first eight months of 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to VFS Global, a firm specializing in visa outsourcing and technology. The rise in applications reflects growing confidence among Filipino travelers and a strong interest in exploring opportunities abroad. Atul Lall, VFS Global's Regional Head for North Asia, noted that this trend is expected to continue through the rest of the year.
The data shows a 28% increase in applications for non-Schengen countries, with Australia, Canada, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom being the most popular destinations. Meanwhile, demand for Schengen countries remains stable, with Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and Switzerland being the top choices for Filipino tourists.
VFS Global also reported a 58% year-on-year growth in its Visa At Your Doorstep services, allowing applicants to process their visas at their preferred locations. This premium service includes application submission, biometrics enrollment, and passport couriering.
Amid the rising demand, VFS Global warned against fraudulent actors who may exploit the situation. The firm advised travelers to rely only on official channels for visa-related information and services. This warning comes after the US Embassy in the Philippines cautioned against visa fraud in August, emphasizing the risks of using fake documents or misrepresenting facts.
