Physical AI Reshapes Robotics Competition, Nvidia Says
Nvidia's Vice President of Physical AI Simulation, Rev Lebaredian, highlighted the significance of physical AI in transforming the robotics industry. Speaking at 'AI & Digital Bridge 2026' in Astana, Kazakhstan, on October 1, he stated that physical AI brings intelligence to machines operating in the real world.
Lebaredian explained that physical AI is not just about implementing AI's judgments into robots' actions but also requires large-scale computing infrastructure as its core foundation. He emphasized that 'AI factories turn energy into intelligence,' which becomes an input factor for companies, researchers, and industries.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are accelerating their efforts to acquire related capabilities, aiming to combine AI with robots based on accumulated data from manufacturing sites and living spaces. Samsung plans to convert its global production bases into 'AI-driven factories' by 2030, introducing digital twin-based simulations and applying AI agents to quality, production, and logistics.
LG Electronics is utilizing manufacturing site data for robot learning while expanding physical AI into living spaces. The company has applied a vision-language model (VLM) and vision-language-action model (VLA) to its home robot 'LG CLOiD' and is promoting the construction of a 'data flywheel' with Nvidia.
