A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 declared an emergency on approach to Manchester Airport on Wednesday.

The flight, PK701, departed Islamabad International Airport at 12:15 PKT and was expected to arrive at Manchester Airport at 16:25 BST. However, after crossing into British airspace, the crew transmitted a squawk code of 7700, indicating an in-flight emergency.

The exact reason for the emergency declaration has not been confirmed by PIA officials or Manchester Airport authorities.
