Pinterest Taps Amazon Executive James Dibbo as New CFO
Pinterest has announced that James Dibbo, a finance executive from Amazon, will join the company as its new chief financial officer (CFO) on 26 October 2026. Dibbo succeeds Julia Donnelly, who is stepping down after three years in the role. The appointment was first reported by Reuters on 5 October 2026. At Amazon, Dibbo served as vice president and CFO for Global Entertainment, Advertising and Corporate Development, overseeing finance for Amazon Ads, Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios, Music, Audible and Twitch.
Dibbo brings a wealth of experience, having previously held CFO positions at Amazon Worldwide Consumer and Amazon North America Consumer. He also led finance at P.F. Chang’s, Tesco, and BT Group. Pinterest CEO Bill Ready described Dibbo as an ‘exceptional finance leader’ with ‘operating rigor, strategic range and growth mindset’ in a press release.
Donnelly’s exit followed scrutiny of Pinterest’s artificial intelligence spending, including a reported $4bn commitment with AWS. Her resignation was announced on 28 August 2026, and she will stay through 30 October for the handover. Pinterest shares fell when Donnelly’s departure was first announced, reflecting investor sensitivity to finance-leadership changes.
Dibbo inherits a business with rising revenue but uneven profitability. Pinterest’s quarterly revenue grew from $739.98m in the first quarter of 2024 to $1.1797bn in the second quarter of 2026. However, the company reported net losses of $73.6m and $46.7m in the first and second quarters of 2026, respectively, even as revenue increased. Pinterest shares closed at $20.10 on 5 October 2026, up 1.44% on the day and 2.29% over the prior 20 trading sessions.
