Pixar Animation Studios has announced that Jonathan Garson will take over as president on January 4, succeeding Jim Morris, who is stepping back from day-to-day leadership. Morris, who has been president for 12 years, will transition to the role of president emeritus but will remain involved in key projects like Incredibles 3.
Garson, a veteran of Pixar since 2010 and Disney for over 30 years, will oversee production and operations. Meanwhile, Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter will continue to lead the creative direction of the studio’s films. Morris joined Pixar in 2005, and under his leadership, the studio’s feature films generated over $12 billion at the global box office.
Pixar’s upcoming slate includes Gatto in March 2027, Ghost Market in March 2028, and Incredibles 3 in June 2028. The leadership change marks a significant shift as Pixar prepares for its next chapter of animation.
